Trying MCT Oil

You who know me know that I’m constantly experimenting to find ultimate health. After reading a lot of research about MCT oil, I’ve decided to give it a try. I think it will be a good supplement to my morning Magic Bullet Coffee every day.

MCTs, Medium-chain triglycerides, work directly in cells to give you an extra boost to maximize your performance.  Very little MCT oil is stored as fat because it is used for energy so quickly. MCT is comprised of primarily caprylic and capric fatty acids, and is a light-yellow, odorless, translucent liquid at room temperature. MCT oil occurs naturally in coconut oil and other foods. When MCT oil is metabolized in the body, it behaves more like a carbohydrate than a fat, and the fuel of preference for the body is carbohydrate. Unlike other fats, MCT oil does not go through the lymphatic system. Instead, it is transported directly to the liver where it is metabolized so it releases energy like a carbohydrate and creates lots of ketones (which can be used for fuel) in the process.

Here are some of the benefits of MCT oil:

  • Nutrient Absorption – MCT oil is said to improve the body’s absorption and use of vitamin E, calcium, and magnesium
  • Fast Energy - MCT oil converts into energy faster than other oils
  • Better Blood Chemistry - Helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels, controlling LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and boosting HDL (good) cholesterol levels
  • Immune Protection - Works to control harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi inside the body

I started taking it today, so I will let you know what I think next week.
