Create a support system

Even when you have the knowledge to become healthy, the road there can be challenging. Even as a Nutritionist I sometimes struggle to stay motivated and focused. Having a buddy to turn to for support, a workout partner or someone who also wants to become healthy, can be the key to your success. When your motivation is declining and you are struggling to find the energy to keep going, a friend will keep on pushing you. Create a support system that will be there for you.

I started a "biggest loser" competition at work last week. Every time I have had a support system of friends I've reached my goal, so I'm very excited to get our group together. We weigh in every Friday in front of each other. Scary, but very effective. I ate healthy all weekend without even wanting to eat anything unhealthy. Knowing I have to meet with my friends on Friday keeps me accountable.

We are going to weigh in every Friday until June 30th. Three month is a good amount of time for seeing the results you want, and creating healthy habits. The person with the biggest loss in percentage wins. Even though it is a competition we are going to give each other tips on healthy eating and moving. It will help us all to be losers and winners :)
