The benefits of eating garlic

Garlic is not only great to add flavor to a meal, it also provides lots of health benefits. When I was little and I had earaches my mom used to put some sauteed garlic in a cotton ball and place it in my ear. It worked every time! Garlic is high in a sulfur compound called Allicin, which is believed to bring most of its health benefits.

Why you should eat garlic

  • 1 ounce of garlic contains
    • Manganese: 23% of the RDA.
    • Vitamin B6: 17% of the RDA.
    • Vitamin C: 15% of the RDA.
    • Selenium: 6% of the RDA.
    • Fiber: 1 gram.
  • Small amounts of Calcium, Copper, Potassium, Phosphorus, Iron and Vitamin B1.
  • Garlic supplementation has shown to reduce high cholesterol.
  • Garlic can reduce the chances to catch a cold.
  • Studies has also shown that garlic supplementation have an impact on reducing high blood pressure.

So don't be afraid of eating a lot of garlic. Just remember to have a mint or gum afterwards! :)
