Here is another healthy holiday dessert! Chocolate balls is a staple in every Swedish household around Christmas. The recipe below is healthier than the original recipe, but just as yummy.
Chocolate Balls

Ingredients
- 3.5 oz. butter
- 1 1/2 cups chopped hazelnuts
- 2 cups shredded (unsweetened) coconut
- 1 cup shredded (unsweetened) coconut for garnishing
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla powder
- 2 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
- 1 1/2 tbsp. cold strong coffee
- 1/4 cup 70% cacao dark chocolate
Directions
- Pour 1 cup of shredded coconut onto a plate and set aside.
- Place butter, hazelnuts, 1 1/2 cups of shredded coconut, and vanilla powder in a bowl and set aside.
- Melt the chocolate in a glass bowl in the microwave (watch it to ensure it doesn't burn).
- Mix the cream, chocolate, and coffee using an electric mixer for about 4 minutes until smooth.
- Pour the chocolate mix into the bowl with the other ingredients and mix it all together using your hands.
- Using your hands, roll small 1-inch balls and then roll them in the coconut on the plate to cover them all over.
- Place the balls on a plate or in a plastic container and refrigerate for a couple of hours before serving.
