As you know I've suffered from migraines for over 20 years. They have gotten much better since I've started with the LCHF lifestyle, but I still get them a couple of times a month. A month ago my doctor gave me a new medicine - MigreLief. MigreLief is a natural dietary supplement and contains magnesium and riboflavin. It also contain Puracol™, which is a proprietary combination of whole leaf feverfew that is high in naturally occurring phytochemicals and a unique feverfew extract high in parthenolides.
As a Nutritionist I had to do research before taking a new medication. I found that most customers saw a decreased number of migraines after taking MigeLief. I also found that taking magnesium had a lot of other benefits. In a study done at the Department of Agriculture's Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, N.D., women with magnesium deficiencies had higher heart rates and required more oxygen to do physical tasks than they did after their magnesium levels were restored. In other words, their bodies were working harder, which can leave you feeling depleted.
The recommended daily intake of magnesium is around 300 milligrams for women and 350 milligrams for men. MigreLief contains 360 mg. To make sure you are getting enough magnesium, try
- Eating a handful of almonds, hazelnuts or cashews daily
- Eat more fish, especially halibut.
I've been taking MigreLief for about a month now and my migraines are definitely less frequent. I also feel like I have more energy. I've started to mediate this month, which I know have helped my migraines. I'm going to monitor my progress and let you know what I found. Regardless if it is MigreLief or the meditation, I can't tell you how happy I am not to have a migraine every week!
