Check in after Thanksgiving

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I checked in with my Clients this morning to see how they did over the Thanksgiving weekend. They did great, which makes me proud. Emma also did a good job sticking to the strategy we created.

This week Emma is going to continue on her eating and workout plan. In her meeting next week we are going to update her workout program to incorporate some weightlifting.

In our meeting this morning Emma brought up some negative comments she has been getting from a friend lately. It's made her really sad and it's been making it challenging to stay on plan. It's not uncommon that people can feel threatened or jealous when their friend or a family member change their lifestyle. Does this mean that she will not be able to hang out with me and eat anymore? How come she can change their health, but I can't?

There are a couple of things you can do to help this situation. First tell your friend that she is hurting your feelings and that you really need her support and help in order to reach your goal. Explain to her how important this journey to health is to you and how much it would mean to you if she could accept that. Invite her to join you and to be part of the journey. Lastly, share your progress with your friends and family ongoing. This will keep them involved, keep you accountable and motivate you to keep going.

A health journey is not supposed to be sad or lonely. Don't be afraid of asking for help, or for telling your friends what you need. This is your journey.
